So, there’s been a class action lawsuit filed against Apple on behalf of all iPod Nano owners. They claim that because the iPod nano scratches easily they not only deserve their money back but also "a share of the company’s profits on the music player’s sales". This is a great example of taking a valid claim and turning it into something ridiculous. And that’s the American way (at least when lawyers are involved).

Misspelled auction-goods on eBay
Cory reports that a good way to find cheap stuff on eBay is to search for misspelled stuff.
you can always get a great deal on eBay auctions by searching for misspelled listings (e.g. "plam pilot"). Now there's a site, MisspelledAuctions.com, that mines eBay for misspelled versions of the keywords you enter. Worked like a charm on my "Disney" query, turning up lots of "diney" and "dinsey" auctions.

Great news, until you realize these people actually never came to Geneva before reporting on this. All they have to say is that Geneva "is a place that prides itself on precision -- and the 150 public clocks in the city stand as testament to this."

Pourquoi tarder à rendre aux habitants de l'Ile-de-France le deuxième club qu'ils méritent? D'ailleurs, il y a déjà deux grands stades. Le Parc des Princes qui peut accueillir 49000 spectateurs, et le Stade de France qui peut en accueillir 79000. Ce qui fait pas mal de billets à vendre. Pourquoi hésiter alors que Canal Plus a payé 600 millions d'euros pour l'exclusivité de la diffusion télévisée du championnat de France; 600 millions, même partagés avec les 19 autres clubs de Ligue 1, cela fait encore un peu de monnaie. Et l'épopée, l'épopée…

Ahh, les enfants
Entendu hier soir dans le tram, une maman en parlant de son fils:
"En fait, il a encore du mal à faire la différence entre ce qui est vivant et ce qui ne l'est pas. En ce moment, son grand truc, c'est de faire des calins aux extincteurs."
Et j'imaginais la scène. Le gamin qui, dès qu'il voit une bouteille rouge, se précipite dessus pour lui faire un bisou... Ah ça donne envie hein ;-)

Lyon : des objets suspects bien inoffensifs
Le métro et le trafic ferroviaire ont été successivement interrompus hier à Lyon, à cause d'un banal chariot et d'un morceau de pain.
Le premier incident s'est produit à la station de métro Perrache, où un chariot de supermarché a été découvert dans une rame de la ligne A. Les TCL ont aussitôt donné l'alerte et évacué le métro. La police s'est rendue sur les lieux et a constaté que l'engin suspect ne présentait pas de risque, probablement abandonné par un SDF qui y transportait ses maigres effets. Conséquence de l'affaire, le trafic a été interrompu pendant 45 minutes sur la ligne A entre Perrache et les Charpennes.
Vers 16 h 30, nouvelle alerte, cette fois à la gare SNCF de Lyon-Part Dieu. Des agents SNCF ont repéré un sac en plastique, sur les voies, entre deux trains. Là encore, un périmètre de sécurité a été mis en place, jusqu'à l'arrivée d'un équipage de police. Les fonctionnaires sont descendus sur les voies, et ont constaté que le sac ne contenait qu'un inoffensif morceau de pain. Le trafic ferroviaire a été interrompu une vingtaine de minutes, entraînant plusieurs retards de trains.

Funny story about the ITU's IP adresses being blocked... Worrying conclusion.

The one person that can sort this out - the designated technical contact, one Luis Rodrigues - hasn't worked for ITU for years. And only an email to his account can free up the block. [...]

Computerised beer mat gets a round in
Two German boffins have developed a pressure-sensing beer mat which automatically demands a refill when you're nearing the dregs of your pint, New Scientist reports.
Andreas Butz at the University of Munich and Michael Schmitz from Saarland University had the bright idea while sinking a few liveners with their students. The mat can be used in conjunction with a traditional mat, but boasts a pressure sensor and a radio transmitter which shouts up a round when required.

J'ai entendu parler de ce truc par Cory Doctorow. En gros ça se connecte à l'antenne télé de la maison et ça redistribue le signal sur le web. On peut donc matter SA télé perso de n'importe ou. Pas mal du tout mais apparement Wired file une mauvaise note à l'ensemble.
Need Advice for Audio system
Voilà, je modernise mon installation HiFi. Pas besoin du disco à la maison pour causes d'enfants en bas âge, par contre je voudrais une HiFi 1) centralisé 2) pilotée par PC si possible 3) sans fil avec donc accès dans plusieurs pièces.
Il y a bien le système de Philips WiFi avec satelites , mais c'est cher et surtout double emploi avec le PC (surtout que j'ai 500MB de disque, donc de la place pour ripper tous mes CDs). Donc si vous avez des idées, merci... postez ici ....
