SF Pictures

Resultat:

MySpace used by police to solve case

CNN reports that police used mySpace to track down some rape suspects:

The group met for a party. "At some point, the victim was no longer aware of what was happening, and she was sexually assaulted," Bartley said.

She knew only their first names but their pictures were posted on MySpace.

"Primarily, we pulled up her friends list. It helped us identify some of the players," said Bartley.

I like the cynical conclusion to the article: "MySpace drew 28 million visitors in December", so you know it's still not time to sell you stocks...

My first Swiss spam (snif)

After Nigerian and American spams, I just got my first Swiss spam (copy here) via a LIFT06 email address. It came from © Elite Media Comp. – Création de sites Internet a Genève – – Tél. +41 22 533 01 11.

I tried to find a bit more information on these people, because as far as I know this is 100% illegal (Michel?). There is an interesting but not so subtil montage behind all this. The unsubscribe address shown in the message ( points in fact to Elite Grafx is a web design company “specialized in the planning and the realization of Internet sites for the professionals of the eroticism.”

These guys probably need money and use the Elite Media Comp. cover to get some work in a more respectable field. Where can I report that? Should we use our adsense money to sue these guys (for the exercice)?

Choose between Mac & PC on the same machine without the use of an emulator

Thanks to my dad, who actually tried it, here's the link to "how to set up Mac OSx on a PC.
No, it's not another emulator, it works completely from Scratch, you just have to set-up a dual boot and Yippie, yippie, yippee...

Zippo Trojan horse demands $300 ransom for victims' encrypted data

Experts at SophosLabs™, Sophos's global network of virus, spyware and spam analysis centers, have warned users about a Trojan horse that encrypts victims' computer data, and then attempts to extort a $300 ransom."

Apple posts full-length movie on iTunes | Reg Hardware

pple appears to have begun - albeit in a very small way - full-length movie downloads. The Mac maker yesterday posted a Disney TV movie, High School Musical, on the iTunes Music Store, offering the 1h 40m, 487.1MB film for the best part of $10. The download appears to be a trial run for a Disney Channel video service.

Weird patent

An annular protective ring attachment designed to grip the outer peripheral edge of all compact discs (CDs) and digital video discs (DVDs) which, when used in combination with said CD or DVD, creates an airfoil. The airfoil ring consists of an inner periphery, which is molded to form a top lip (3) and bottom lip (4), and between these lips, a gripping mouth (6), which securely holds the CD or DVD (7, 76) inside the aperture of the airfoil ring. The body of the airfoil ring is curved in such a way as to create an airfoil adequate to enable the airfoil ring with inserted CD or DVD to be safely tossed into the air and to exhibit controllability in flight

Nasal Sprays Can Bring on Vicious Cycle - New York Times

A couple of squirts can shrink swollen tissues in seconds to minutes, letting in an exhilarating rush of fresh air. With some sprays, a single dose works for as long as 12 hours.

But relief provided by nasal spray decongestants like Afrin and Neo-Synephrine comes at a price: the risk of rebound congestion caused by overuse and, for some people, a vicious cycle of overuse and dependence that feels like an addiction.

Beer fights heart disease: official

More good news for those of you who like a swift pint or two: beer doesn't just fight cancer and make you clever but also blocks "interferon-gamma-induced chemical processes".
This is a good thing, trust us, because what the Innsbruck Medical University team behind this revelation has shown - in layman's terms - is that beer offers a resultant anti-inflammatory effect which may have a "beneficial impact on coronary heart diseases".
