Second Life promet aux internautes une "deuxième vie". Né aux Etats-Unis, il fait partie de la famille des "jeux de rôle multijoueurs en ligne". Avec 150 000 joueurs, Second Life est bien plus modeste que le leader World of Warcraft, un jeu de combat. Sa particularité est de laisser une grande liberté aux joueurs, sans leur assigner de but précis. Ceux-ci sont appelés à co-inventer ce deuxième monde. Grâce à un logiciel fourni par l'éditeur, chacun peut créer des objets en trois dimensions, de la maison au costume d'ange, en passant par le tracteur ou le lit-ascenseur. Et les vendre. Car dans Second Life, les joueurs sont libres d'inventer leur métier. Et certains ont choisi de se prostituer.

Apple's all-seeing screen

New screen on the upcoming imacbooks (or whatever name the successor of macbooks will have), able to display pictures and TAKE pictures at the same time.

We could soon see a new kind of display screen from computer maker Apple – one that simultaneously takes pictures while showing images.

The clever idea is to insert thousands of microscopic image sensors in-between the liquid crystal display cells in the screen. Each sensor captures its own small image, but software stitches these together to create a single, larger picture.
